‘‘NANCY IS A JOY TO WORK WITH.
When she takes on a project, she does so with a gusto and thoroughness that is unparalleled. Her illustrations are bold, yet nuanced, and always meticulous in execution. Nancy is an expansive thinker and will transcend the scope of a design brief. Her illustrations surprise, delight, and ultimately arrive at an unexpected — yet always well-suited place.’’
— PETE MORELEWICZ, ART DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS
‘‘Directing high-profile collaborations is one of Nancy’s strengths. She always pushes photographers, illustrators and typographers for their best work. Nancy is relentless and inventive. She is passionate about every design she works on and won’t give up until she feels she’s nailed it.’’
— JANET FROELICH, FORMER CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE, T: THE NEW YORK TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE AND REAL SIMPLE MAGAZINE
‘‘Nancy is one of those designers who over-delivers, taking an assignment and doing more than you expect with it. Her custom typography is flawless. It has this incredible fluidity, while at the same time it doesn’t come across as overly articulated or too formal. I think that there’s a sense of humanity to it and personal craftsmanship to it.’’
— JOE DUFFY, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, DUFFY & PARTNERS
‘‘I was overjoyed when I saw the beautiful type that Nancy created for the cover of Time Out New York. She knew exactly what I was looking for and executed it perfectly. When looking at the final printed piece, I’m amazed and impressed at the level of detail she created in the hand drawn characters. A real work of art. And of the 350 covers I’ve art directed, one of my favorites.’’
— ADAM FULRATH, ART DIRECTOR, TIME OUT LONDON
‘‘Nancy Rouemy didn’t just design the cover of my novel, The Story of Beautiful Girl. She created a haunting, subtle, mesmerizing, and gorgeous work of art, as intelligently conceived as it was superbly executed. No one who’s ever seen the cover in person has failed to be captivated by the intricate play of shadow and light gracing the main image; the metaphorically meaningful curls of the girl’s hair; the elegant, multi-hued, one-of-a-kind font; and a paper stock as luminescent as the glow of the autumn moon.It is no wonder that the cover was singled out for praise in many reviews — and that the book leaped onto the New York Times bestseller list the week it was released.’’
— RACHEL SIMON, BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE STORY OF BEAUTIFUL GIRL AND RIDING THE BUS WITH MY SISTER
‘‘Nancy is always trying to do something fresh and new. She pushes the envelope beyond what’s already out there.’’
— INA SALTZ, AUTHOR OF FOUNDATIONS OF TYPOGRAPHY, LINDA.COM AND PROFESSOR OF DESIGN AT THE CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK
‘‘Nancy is one of the most super talented and innovative professional masters of typographic and letterform designers in the world. She’s also an astonishingly good art director.’’
— TONY DI SPIGNA, INTERNATIONAL AWARD-WINNING LETTERER AND TYPE DESIGNER, DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR AT THE NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND PRATT INSTITUTE, AND FORMER PARTNER OF THE LEGENDARY STUDIO, HERB LUBALIN & ASSOCIATES
