THE DAILY DECAL: ALITALIA

No. 4 > Linee Aeree Italiane was established in 1946 as Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali, more commonly known as Alitalia, a combination of the Italian words ali (wings) and Italia (Italy).

The italicized tri-line lettering evokes airport runways and movement/advance as it wraps around the blue circular border. A solid-winged arrow mirrors its outlined other-half for graphic impact. The stripes in the wings distinctly reflect the stripes in the letterforms.

THE DAILY DECAL: SABENA

No. 3 >  The Societé Anonyme Belge d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aérienne, better known internationally by the acronym SABENA, was the national airline of Belgium from 1923 to 2001, with its base at Brussels National Airport.

Love the charming city illo packaged-up in the flag colors of Belgium with the miniscule plane flying above. The floating swash in the "B" in Belgio is a nice touch.
